Components of a Solar Energy System
- The suns energy is absorbed by the solar collectors.
- The solar controller will sense when the temperature in the panel is 4 degrees greater than the temperature at the bottom of the solar cylinder.
- This will then automatically start the pumping station the transfer the heat from the panels to the cylinder.
- This operation will continue until either the cylinder is satisfied (i.e. at 65 degrees Celsius) or the heat from the panels is spent.
- If hot water is drawn from the cylinder the cycle will resume.
- The boiler is retained in the system to allow for low solar gain days and for faster recover if required.
- The solar coil however will always produce gains even if the boiler has been used as it is below the boiler coil.
- This also means that once the top of the cylinder is satisfied the boiler will not cut in.
